About the Academically Talented Program
The Academically Talented program is an enrichment program for gifted students in Bell Oaks. The AT class covers the grade-specific social studies requirements at each grade level, while giving students the opportunity to work at an independently driven pace through projects related to the content, but guided by their interests. In addition to social studies, the AT program has been designed to be a truly interdisciplinary course. Students will develop their creative and divergent thinking skills, analytical listening, speaking, and writing skills, as well as 21st Century technology skills. The students will also participate in hands-on learning through S.T.E.M and engineering activities, debate and public speaking, independent, interest-driven research (A.K.A. “Genius Hour”), and the analysis of the local and global impact of current events. Throughout the year students will work both independently and as a member of a team.
